Why is food so important to the Jewish people? Why are there so many rules and laws pertaining to food? Even within the Jewish world, why do different populations cook and eat in different ways? Thisminimester will explore ethical eating, the basics of Kashrut and how Jewish food is often the centerpiece to family connection. We’ll end with the chance to cook an entire meal, integrating concepts we discuss together as a class.
Dates: January 4, 18; February 1, 15; March 1, 15
7:00-8:30pm with dinner included
This year, we are restructuring Hebrew High to include a series of four minimesters from which your teen can enroll. Whether it is the entire year or just a few mimimesters, you and your teens can select which topics interest them the most. Our goal is to maximize our time together as a class by teaching topics that are important and relevant to Jewish American teens today.
You can enroll for any or all of our minimester classes by clicking here: https://spsnyc.org/jackson-religious-school/jrs-program/hebrew-high/
