A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTORS:

Dear Families,

We are thrilled to share with you information about our new BRIDGE program that will begin September 2018! The Bridge Program will be a partner program between the Sutton Place Family Center and Kaplan Nursery School. Designed for children who do not meet the cut-off for the Two’s at KNS, the program will be for children turning two from November 1, 2018 through January 31, 2019.

The first half of the school year, the program will function similarly to the Toddler Program. Children will attend the program twice a week for 90 minutes with a caregiver. The class will be led by two KNS teachers who will get to know the group and prepare the children for the second half of the year. Come January, the children will begin to separate from their caregivers and the class will extend to 2 hours. We will approach the separation process by supporting each child’s individual needs and pace throughout the process, and by working closely with families.

After hearing feedback on programs for children who are not yet old enough for Nursery School but are ready to socialize and engage in a warm, nurturing environment, we hope the Bridge Program will begin their relationship with school on the right foot!

Families enrolled in the program will receive the opportunity to opt into Early Decision during the Nursery School admissions process. Families in the program will also be able to attend a group play session in lieu of an individual family visit. Families that wish to tour the school prior to entering the Bridge Program will not be required to tour again during the Admissions Season, unless they so choose.

Registration will begin March 2018. Priority registration will be offered to current synagogue members, KNS families, and current SPFC Toddler Program families. If you are interested in being notified when registration opens, please email pcorbet@spsnyc.org.

Again, we are truly excited about this joint venture. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Lindsay Bennett; KNS Director

Paige Corbet; Director SPFC / KNS Assistant Director
