We view our role at Sutton Place Synagogue as not only educating children, but entire families. To that end, we’ve developed a curriculum designed to promote the involvement of entire families, both in the classroom and through separate programming around holidays and festivals. This provides an opportunity for parents and their children to learn about and experience Judaism together, in a communal setting, with other families.
For our young families, we have holiday celebrations including Tot Sukkot, Tot Chanukah, and the Purim Carnival. These programs are designed for families with children under 6 in mind, and feature music, activities, stories, and art projects (among other things)!
For our school-age families, we have holiday programs together a few times each year. These include Shabbat Dinner in the Sukkah, a Chanukah program and dinner, the Purim shpiel and carnival, and an end-of-the-year celebration!
Shabbat in the Sukkah: October 18
(Pre) Chanukah Dinner: December 18 @ 6 PM
Come celebrate Chanukah in advance with your Sutton Place Synagogue community! We will get in the Chanukah spirit together with Chanukah songs, Chanukah-themed breakfast-for-dinner, and have Chanukah-themed crafts and activities. We hope you can join us!
If you can sing, dance, act or just want to have fun, this is for you. Join the cast of the widely acclaimed SPS annual Purim Shpiel. Audience members needed as well. Rehearsals for the Purim Shpiel start the Wednesday following Thanksgiving (December 4) and will go from 9-7:15 PM weekly.
Siyum (End-of-School Program): May 20
