Admissions

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your interest in the Kaplan Nursery School. Our application for the 2021-2022 school year is now available by clicking below. Please note, due to the current pandemic and in an effort to keep applicants, our children and school community healthy and safe, the admissions process for the 2021-2022 school year will be virtual. We recognize this may create unique challenges for some families as they get to know our school, philosophy, community and facility.

Kaplan Nursery School is an engaging and vibrant community, and as such, we are planning multiple opportunities for engagement: virtual tour/ information sessions (required), parent/ teacher panel discussion via Zoom (optional), and a one-to-one Zoom visit with a member of the admissions staff for your child and yourself.  The one-on-one visits will provide an opportunity for you to ask individual questions regarding the school, while your child plays alongside you, and we get to know your family.  While we understand the challenges of a virtual admissions process, we also know that it will allow some flexibility for our applicant families.

Upon submitting your application, you will attach a family picture to send along with the $70.00 application fee.

Virtual tours & information sessions will begin in the middle of October, and will be scheduled after September 9th. In addition, we will set up a time for you and your child’s one-to-one family visit via Zoom, in January & February. During the family visit, you will meet with a school representative to discuss your child, the school, and any questions you might have.

Children must turn two by October 31, 2020 in order to be eligible for admission to the Nursery School.

For younger children who miss the cut-off for enrollment, we offer the Bridge Program & Toddler Program through the Sutton Place Family Center. You do not need to apply to these programs; they are registration-based and are first-come, first-serve.

Kaplan Nursery School is a member of the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). We follow all ISAAGNY guidelines and dates throughout the admissions process; this includes the opportunity to participate in an Early Notification Program. We offer this option to Sutton Place Synagogue members & siblings of KNS students.

Please note that membership at Sutton Place Synagogue is required for all families, regardless of religious affiliation, whose children are enrolled in the Kaplan Nursery School, upon enrollment in the school.

Admissions notification letters, per ISAAGNY guidelines, will be sent via email on Thursday, February 25, 2021, with a parent reply date of Thursday, March 4th. Early notification letters will be emailed no later than Friday, January 15, 2020. Families who are eligible and wish to opt-in to the Early Notification Program need to inform us by Monday, December 1, 2020

I look forward to meeting you and your child!

Sincerely,
Lindsay Bennett
