Passover Seders & Service Schedules

SCHEDULE of PASSOVER SERVICES

SIYYUM FOR THE FIRST BORN
Monday, April 10 at 7:30 am
A first-born child (b’chor) should fast on the eve of Passover to commemorate the deliverance of the first-born Israelites from Egypt. It has become customary for the Rabbi to make a Siyyum (a public reading and explanation of the concluding passage of a tractate of Mishnah or Talmud, the study of which has been completed) on the morning before Passover. Since eating at such an occasion is a seudat mitzvah (a festive meal that accompanies the performance of certain mitzvot), the first-born who is present at the Siyyum may join the festivities and eat.

PASSOVER YIZKOR MEMORIAL SERVICE
Tuesday, April 18 11:00 am

REMEMBERING RABBI ALLAN SCHRANZ

As the 2nd yahrzeit (anniversary) of his passing approaches, our community will gather together on the 8th day of Passover to remember Rabbi Allan Schranz, who served as our spiritual leader from 1998 to 2012. We will dedicate the introduction to the Yizkor service to his memory and unveil a plaque inscribed with his words on the lobby memorial wall. We will hear from some SPS members who were close to him as they briefly reflect on his life and legacy. The Yizkor prayers will immediately follow
