Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Ain – May 25, 2018

Shabbat Shalom! This week we will read from Parashat Naso.

In this Torah portion, God describes the service of the Gershon family of Levites. The laws relating to the suspected adulteress and the nazirite are given. God tells Moses and Aaron the priestly blessing. The heads of tribes bring gifts to the Tabernacle.
Shabbat evening services are at 6:15 pm and Saturday morning Services are at 9:15 am. We will celebrate with Steven Schurkman and Judy Gische’s as their son Zachary Schurkman and future daughter-in-law Rachel Musiker are called to the Torah for their aufruf.
Candle lighting is at 7:57 pm.
Please note: The SPS offices, schools, and services are closed this Monday in observance of Memorial day.
Thought Question: In this week’s parasha we encounter the Priestly blessing. How do we encounter God’s blessings in our world today?

Over the last year, the number of refugees and displaced people across the world has grown to more than 65 million – more than any time in recorded history. Because of our history and our values, the Jewish people have a unique connection to these most vulnerable people. During this program, we’ll ground ourselves in a shared understanding of this crisis, explore the Jewish values that command us to welcome the stranger, and learn how to take action in support of refugees worldwide.
