Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Jackson Religious School’s core Jewish education curriculum ideally prepares our students to enter the next phase of their journey in Judaism by becoming a bar or bat mitzvah. We work hard to structure a compelling program that includes classroom work and service attendance to prepare your children to become adult members of the Jewish community. Our Cantor, Dov Keren, is actively involved in preparing your child for this rite of passage.
Because of our manageable size, our students enjoy a “luxury” almost unheard-of in Manhattan: we schedule only one bar or bat mitzvah per service. The opportunity for our students to lead bar and bat mitzvah services on their own – rather than share this service with one or more peers – is an almost unique characteristic of Sutton Place Synagogue.
