Death and Memory: The sacred conversations we need to have
Sunday, February 5th - 9:30 AM - 3 PM
Sutton Place Synagogue, 225 East 51st Street
Join us for the return of the SPS Sunday Symposium as we spend a day learning, listening, and share about grief and mortality, both preparing for the mortality of our loved ones and talking about our own. Featuring keynote speaker, Rebecca Soffer, author of THE MODERN LOSS HANDBOOK.
Breakout sessions will include topics such as ethical wills, how to talk to kids about death, the sandwich generation: caring for parents and caring for children at the same time, sacred choices at the end, guidance from funeral homes on immediate steps when someone passes, mourning Jewishly, and more.
Learn from Rabbi Rachel Ain, Rabbi Dave Levy, SPS Rabbinic Intern Benjy Forester, Cantor Malachi Kanfer, Rabbi Amy Bolton, Rabbi Mollie Cantor, Irving Sitnik, and more.
These challenging and yet necessary topics will help participants gain insights into parts of our lives that we will all confront. Doing so in community will give everyone strength. Lunch included in the day. Chaired by SPS board member Carrie Harris. With generous support from Plaza Jewish Community Chapel and Riverside Memorial Chapel.
Complimentary for SPS members, $36 for the wider community
