Purim Carnival Volunteering

Sunday, March 13, 9:15 am-1:15 pm

for 5th-12th graders

Give back to the SPS community, have fun and earn community service hours as you help run the SPS Purim Carnival!

Volunteer for one or more shifts:

  • 9:15-10:30 am

  • 10:15-11:30 am

  • 11:15 am-12:30 pm

  • 12:00-1:15 pm

You must wear a facemask (KN-95 or surgical) and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Virtual Kadima Mitzvah Cooking

Virtual Kadima Mitzvah Cooking (5th-7th grades)

Sunday, January 23 at 5:00 pm

Hannah will be leading our Kadima-niks in making extra-special mashed potatoes to donate to local community fridges to feed hungry neighbors. This Kadima event is running in conjunction with the Family Mitzvah Cooking Project.

Hints:

  • Make two dishes--one to donate and one for dinner!

  • You can drop off your dish at SPS for storage on Monday, 1/24 between 10 am-4 pm. Please just call before you come!

Kadima Ice Skating (5th-7th)

Kadima Ice Skating @ Bryant Park

for 5th-7th graders

Sunday, December 12 from 2:30-4:15 pm

Drop off & pickup at the NY Public Library on 43rd & 5th

Come join us for ice skating with your SPS friends! We will ice skate at the Bryant Park skating rink, and then explore the Winter Village.

Cost: $36 for skate rental, free if you bring your own skates!

A Conversation About Israel for Tweens and Teens

7:15-8 PM for 6th-7th graders
8-8:45 PM for 8th-12th graders

Rabbi Ain and Alyssa Schwager invite SPS tweens and teens for a conversation about the rabbi's recent trip to Israel. She will be sharing different aspects of her trip including pictures, stories, and reflections, and the teens will have a chance to ask questions and reflect on what they are hearing and learning.

Lasagna Baking

Families with kids in K-7th grades

Monday, January 18 @ 4 pm: cooking on Zoom

Tuesday & Wednesday, January 19 & 20: volunteers deliver lasagnas

Come join as we do Tikkun Olam (repairing the world!) We will explore food insecurity and Jewish values as we make lasagnas together!

JRS dad and professional caterer Ira Zahler will guide us through the cooking, and you can make one for dinner and one to donate!

Lasagnas will be donated to those who need them through Lasagna Love and to community refrigerators in Harlem.

Schedule:

  • Monday @ 4 pm: learning & cooking together over Zoom

  • Tuesday & Wednesday: volunteer drivers take lasagnas to Harlem destinations
