The Rabbi Who Helped Make The Prince of Egypt: A conversation with Dr. Burton Visotzky, a rabbi, scholar, and consultant to DreamWorks Pictures.

Join us for an intimate and meaningful conversation with Dr. Visotzky, as we look at this film that helped the Passover story come to life.

Dr. Visotzky is a professor of Midrash at the Jewish Theological Seminary where Rabbi Rachel Ain, Rabbi David Levy, Cantor Malachi Kanfer, Alyssa Schwager, and Rabbinic Intern David Chapman have studied.

This is a Young Professionals program, but all are welcome!

JRS Family Passover Program

For JRS students & their adults

Come join us for a family-oriented hands-on Passover experience during JRS! We will focus on the tastes and touches of the seder as families prepare for a Passover that is different from all other Passovers.

  • Gan-Kitah Bet (K-2nd grade): Will focus on matzah—includes baking! Click here for ingredient list.

  • Kitah Gimmel & Kitah Dalet (3rd-4th grades): Will focus on maror (bitter herb) and charoset—includes chopping! Click here for ingredient list.

  • Kitah Hey & Kitah Vav (5th & 6th grades): Will focus on pesach (the roasted bone/offering) and the phrase “ha lachma anya” (let all who are hungry come and eat) from the Haggada. Postcards have been mailed.

  • Kitah Zayin (7th grade): Will help plan and lead the programs for the other classes.

City Harvest Passover & Kosher Food Drive

CITY HARVEST PASSOVER & KOSHER FOOD DRIVE

March 4 - 23

SPS is collecting kosher non-perishable food to donate to those less fortunate during Passover, in partnership with City Harvest. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, over a half million Jewish New Yorkers struggled to put food on their tables.  Let’s try to help our neighbors at this critical time!

Please drop your donations in the SPS lobby - there will be a collection bin.

Food Needed:
• All types of kosher for Passover and/or Chometz canned or non-perishable sealed or packaged food
• Please keep Passover and Chometz items separate.
• We cannot accept perishable foods or opened packages.
• Most needed kosher foods are as follows:
- Tuna
- Salmon
- Sardines
- Gefilte fish
- Grape juice
- Oils
- Matzoh
